Borago officinalis
Vigorously hairy culinary herb with star-shaped, blue flowers that are very popular with insects.
The culinary herb reaches a height of 80 cm and is easy to cultivate. The plants self-seed in the garden and prefer a wind-protected location, otherwise they will bend over. Due to the unmistakable, fresh-sour cucumber taste of the leaves, borage is also popularly known as "cucumber herb". The leaves are cooked with vegetables or used in salads, egg dishes, curd cheese or to refine soft drinks. The edible flowers make a great decoration or can be enjoyed candied, for example.
